Hi, I’m Betsey.

 I am glad you’re here.

​

I believe this is the section where I am supposed to tell you a little bit about me and the things I create. I’m struggling a little bit with this because welcoming you here is like welcoming you to a place inside of me.
The place where all the very best things happen. The place where all the biggest feelings live.

​

My very first memories of being loved, and showing love, are wrapped up in fabric. The soundtrack of my childhood was punctuated by the rhythmic and comforting thump of the sewing machine.
 

I can’t remember the details of the Halloween parties I went to as a kid, but I have vivid memories of trying on my costume a hundred times as my mom patiently ripped and stitched over and over to get the costume just right. After working all day, she somehow managed to get three handmade costumes completed just in time for us to go out and immediately get them dirty and sticky with candy.

I don’t remember most of the toys bought for me, but one of the memories I hold on to the tightest in my heart is when I was 5 and my grandma taught me how to sew by making doll clothes. 
 

My family story is full of women who have created what was needed from very little, survived trauma through making and ingenuity, and who always moved forward and found a way (and did it all as beautifully as possible!) no matter what the obstacle!

I learned from these women that I, too, have the ability to Create and show my love, joy, and delight to others through my creations. My hope and dream is to bring a little of that feeling to as many people as possible.
